Attorney Profiles

John R. Stump

John Stump has a broad range of trial experience gained from a diverse practice throughout the entire state of Florida. Born in South Bend, Indiana, John moved to St. Petersburg in 1972. He received his undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee and his law degree from Florida State University College of Law, in Tallahassee.

After law school, John served as an Assistant State Attorney in Ft. Myers. He prosecuted charges that ran the spectrum from simple misdemeanors to felony drug trafficking and murder. After more than 100 trials, John moved to Daytona Beach and gained experience as an Assistant Attorney General arguing criminal appeals primarily before the Fifth District.

With his extensive trial and appellate background in criminal cases, John moved into civil practice by joining a prominent insurance firm with offices throughout Florida. From Brevard County, John traveled across the state litigating civil cases through trial and appeal in both state and federal courts.

In 1988, now more than 20 years ago, John moved to Orlando as one of the founders of the law firm that is now Stump, Dietrich, Spears & Norman, P.A. Since that time, he has concentrated his practice on complex commercial litigation, focusing on corporate and contract disputes. John is an AV rated attorney admitted to practice in all divisions of the Florida Federal Courts and the United States Supreme Court.
