Bernard "Barney" Harold Gentry, Jr.
Barney is a commercial litigator with emphasis on contractual disputes, mobile home law, construction law and covenants not to compete. His clients have included large commercial developers, commercial construction clients and mobile home park owners.
Barney was born in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and was raised in Key West, Florida. Barney attended Florida State University and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and English Literature.
Barney obtained his Juris Doctorate with High Honors from Florida State University in 1995. Barney was selected to the Florida State University Law Review where he served as an Articles Editor. After graduation, he was also elected to the Order of the Coif for academic achievement.
Barney began his practice in Lakeland, Florida with Clark, Campbell & Mawhinney, P.A. where he became a partner. While at Clark, Campbell & Mawhinney, P.A. Lakeland, Barney concentrated his practice on construction law, mobile home park law, contract litigation, and real estate litigation. In 2006 Barney became Certified in Business Litigation by the Florida Bar Board of Specialization and Education Certification. Barney joined Stump, Dietrich, Spears & Norman, P.A. in 2008 where he continues to concentrates his practice in construction law and business litigation.
While in Lakeland, Barney was also active in the community. Barney was a graduate of Leadership Lakeland Class XVIII and was extremely active in the United Way where he chaired different committees. He also tutored through Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Polk County and Girls, Inc. of Lakeland. Barney was also a long time board member of the Heart of Florida Legal Aid Society and served as president.
